Jonathan Ive

Jonathan Ive holds a BA and an honorary doctorate from Newcastle Polytechnic. He cofounded the London based studio Tangerine in the early 1990s. Apple hired his firm as a consultant and subsequently brought him to California to work full-time for the company. Within four years, Ive was promoted to Senior Vice President of Industrial Design. He worked closely with Apple’s co-founder, Steve Jobs to develop the iMac, the revolutionary
computer that transformed the industry with its all-in-one design
and bright colors, selling more than two million units in its first year.
Following the iMac’s launch, Ive was the lead designer for the iPod,
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air.
in 2003, he was named designer of the year by the Design Museum in London and awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by the British Royal Society of Arts. In 2012, he was knighted by the order of the British Empire.
